Mason Dixon Farms is a family run dairy operation. We are investing in the innovative robotic milking system (VMS)with Delaval. With our first of 4 phases, 10 robots installed, we are finally beginning our 2nd phase. This blog is soley devoted to keeping you updated with the happenings in the developments of phase 2
I'm related to small family farmers, and saw my grandparents give up on milk production when I was a child. My uncle still raises beef cattle and is in his late 60's or early 70's.
ReplyDeleteI just read an article in The Lutheran about your farm, and seeing that you "bristle over criticism of mass-production agriculture" compelled me to make one comment. If all "mass-production agriculture" learns to do it responsibly and with respect for the land, as your farm appears to have done, I think we that are leery of large-scale livestock farming would be much less concerned. Kudos.
I was looking for a way to be in touch and couldn't find it. I am starting a small farm outside of Gettysburg and was wondering if you all had manure available. We are trying to find a good manure source to add nutrients to the land. I hope to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Katie
